Increased Fiscal Year Funding Will Continue Supporting Peer-Led Warm Handoff and Recovery Services
July 1, 2025 — Recovery Movement Consulting is proud to announce that we have helped successfully secured renewed grant funding for the Northern Illinois Recovery Community Organization (NIRCO) from Advocates for Human Potential, Inc. (AHP), totaling $325,052.58 for the fiscal year July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026. This marks a significant increase from last year’s award and reflects continued confidence in NIRCO’s leadership in peer-led recovery support services throughout Lake County.
The funding will again support NIRCO’s Warm Handoff and Recovery Support Services (WARM) program, which focuses on providing immediate, culturally responsive, and peer-driven recovery support to individuals with opioid use disorder (OUD) and polysubstance use disorder (PUD), particularly those transitioning from jail, inpatient treatment, and housing instability in high-need communities like Waukegan, Zion, and North Chicago.
The WARM program will continue to collaborate with essential partners including the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Kalimba Foundation, Gateway Foundation – Lake Villa, Lake Behavioral Hospital, and the Capt. James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center to reach individuals at key moments of vulnerability and offer recovery coaching, navigation, and linkage to care.
“Securing this increased funding for a second year is a testament to the strength of NIRCO’s model and the trust they’ve built with partners and funders alike,” said Shannon Egan, Founder and CEO of Recovery Movement Consulting. “We’re honored to support this work and help sustain a program that truly meets people where they are and walks with them toward recovery.”
This renewed award allows NIRCO to not only maintain services but also enhance them, reaching more individuals in crisis with meaningful, peer-based solutions. Recovery Movement Consulting remains committed to helping grassroots and peer-led organizations like NIRCO access the resources they need to create lasting change in the communities they serve.
