OUR MISSION

Empowering Change as a Grant Writer for Behavioral Health Nonprofit Organizations

Shannon Egan, Founder of Recovery Movement Consulting, began consulting for behavioral health and addiction recovery organizations in 2015. For nearly a decade, she operated as a solo grant writer, offering expert support to nonprofits navigating the complex world of funding, strategy, and sustainability. By fall 2024, however, the demand for trustworthy support had become overwhelming. Many new clients came to her after negative experiences with other grant writers—stories of missed deadlines, poor communication, and unethical practices. Shannon knew the field deserved better.

Fueled by a commitment to excellence and a desire to hire qualified, honest, peer-led professionals, she launched Recovery Movement Consulting (RMC) as a peer-run LLC. RMC was built to increase capacity and expand services while remaining deeply grounded in lived experience, transparency, and impact.

Led by Lived Experience. Powered by Purpose.

Our peer-led team understands the recovery journey firsthand. Every member of RMC identifies as someone in long-term recovery, a family member impacted by addiction, or an advocate working to transform behavioral health systems. That lived experience fuels everything we do—from how we communicate to how we build proposals that resonate with funders and policymakers alike.

A Legacy in the Recovery Movement
The name “Recovery Movement Consulting” reflects Shannon’s deep roots in the national recovery movement. Inspired by the cultural shift that began in 2014, she became Utah’s State Captain for the historic 2015 UNITE to Face Addiction Rally on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.—a defining moment in her personal and professional journey. Since then, Shannon and her team have supported organizations across the country in securing funding, shaping policy, and challenging stigma.

Your Partners in Change
At RMC, we’re not just consultants—we’re part of the movement. Whether you're a recovery housing program, an RCO, an SUD treatment provider, or a youth prevention initiative, we bring the compassion of lived experience and the precision of an expert behavioral health grant writer to help you grow, fund, and sustain your mission.

At RMC, we’re not just consultants. We’re part of the movement.
