RMC Wins Nearly $3.75 Million SAMHSA Grant for Chicago SUD Treatment Provider

Recovery Movement Consulting (RMC) has successfully written and secured a new

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) grant for Garfield Counseling Center in Chicago, Illinois.

The Garfield West Side MAT Recovery Project received $749,958 for its first budget year and is expected to bring approximately $3.75 million in federal funding to the organization over the five-year project period, subject to annual SAMHSA continuation funding.

But our work does not end when the grant is awarded.

RMC will continue working alongside Garfield Counseling Center to help administer the federal grant, oversee compliance, manage budgets, collect and analyze data, prepare required reports, guide program goals, support marketing efforts, and solve implementation challenges as the new program gets underway.

About the SAMHSA MAT-PDOA Grant Program

The funding was awarded through SAMHSA’s Medication-Assisted Treatment–Prescription Drug and Opioid Addiction, or MAT-PDOA, grant program.

The program is designed to expand and improve access to medications for opioid use disorder, counseling, peer recovery support, care coordination, and other evidence-based treatment and recovery services.

Beginning September 30, 2026, the Garfield West Side MAT Recovery Project will increase access to comprehensive opioid use disorder treatment and recovery services for individuals and families on Chicago’s West Side.

Garfield Counseling Center has served Chicago communities for decades. This new federal investment will allow the organization to strengthen its existing services, reach more people, and provide coordinated support that addresses the complex barriers individuals often face when seeking treatment and building long-term recovery.
