Grant Win: RMC Supports Women of the World Through Grant Writing for Refugee Services

Empowering Refugee Women Through First-Round Funding from the Wasatch Women Legacy Giving Circle

ree

Recovery Movement Consulting (RMC) proudly celebrates a new grant win for Women of the World (WoW), a Utah-based nonprofit helping forcibly displaced women achieve self-reliance, economic success, and a voice in the community.

This award marks the first-ever round of funding from the Wasatch Women Legacy Giving Circle (WWLGC) — a collective of 25 Utah women philanthropists dedicated to improving the lives of women and children through high-impact charitable giving.

Through grant writing for refugee services, RMC helped articulate WoW’s life-changing work to the funder’s mission—ensuring that women who have endured displacement, trauma, and hardship can rebuild their lives with dignity and independence.

About the Funded Program: The Self-Sufficiency Program

The Self-Sufficiency Program is the heart of Women of the World’s mission. It is a comprehensive, year-round initiative that helps refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants gain the resources, tools, and confidence to thrive in Utah.

This program provides:

  • Customized advocacy and case management that connects women with housing, food, healthcare, and legal assistance.

  • Community-building opportunities through support groups, cultural events, and mentorship.

  • Economic empowerment services including job readiness, career coaching, financial literacy, and small-business support.

In 2024, WoW’s services helped more than 1,500 women representing over 94 nationalities, generating over $1.9 million in increased annualized income for Utah families.

The Power of Grant Writing for Refugee Services

Through grant writing for refugee services, Recovery Movement Consulting ensures that peer-led, culturally responsive organizations like WoW can continue operating and expanding their reach.

This general operating support from WWLGC for $15,000 provides stability—helping WoW retain experienced staff, maintain its community space, and continue offering essential programs that change lives.

“When we focus on grant writing for refugee services, we’re not just telling the story of resilience—we’re creating opportunities for women to stand on their own,” said Shannon Egan, Founder & CEO of Recovery Movement Consulting. “Women of the World embodies what happens when community, compassion, and collaboration come together.”

About the Wasatch Women Legacy Giving Circle (WWLGC)

The Wasatch Women Legacy Giving Circle (WWLGC) is a newly formed philanthropic collective of 25 Utah women leaders focused on supporting charitable, educational, and social welfare initiatives that uplift women and children across the state.

In its inaugural year, WWLGC awarded $300,000 in total grants to nonprofit organizations that align with its mission of making a lasting, positive difference in Utah communities.
