RMC's Substance Use Grant Writer Delivers Targeted Funding for RCO Recovery Programs
At Recovery Movement Consulting, we are excited to share another successful grant award that showcases the expertise of our substance use grant writer team. We secured a $24,960 grant for Will Work for Recovery (WWFR), a certified Recovery Community Organization (RCO), through the WCA Foundation, a Signature Fund of the Minneapolis Foundation. This award will help fund WWFR’s Women Empowered Project—a program specifically designed to serve justice-involved women in recovery.
WWFR, as an RCO, provides peer-led, trauma-informed, evidence-based recovery support services to individuals and families impacted by substance use disorder (SUD). The Women Empowered Project focuses on one of the most vulnerable and underserved populations in Hennepin County: women transitioning from the criminal justice system for drug-related offenses, many of whom face overwhelming systemic barriers to housing, employment, healthcare, and family reunification.
Recovery Movement Consulting specializes in grant writing for substance use disorder (SUD) organizations, with a dedicated focus on supporting RCOs nationwide. Our substance use grant writer team brings a unique advantage: we are peer-led, lived-experience professionals who deeply understand both the technical grant writing process and the real-world needs of recovery-focused nonprofits. This deep understanding allows our substance use grant writers to develop highly competitive proposals that directly align with funder priorities and produce measurable outcomes.
The successful grant proposal, written by our substance use grant writer, laid out a comprehensive, four-phase implementation plan:
Program Development: Hiring and training peer recovery specialists with lived experience
Outreach and Enrollment: Direct engagement with women nearing release or on probation/parole
Service Delivery: Intensive one-on-one coaching, housing and employment navigation, parenting support, and trauma recovery workshops
Evaluation and Sustainability: Ongoing data tracking using the Recovery Database Platform (RDP) to monitor housing, employment, recidivism, and family reunification outcomes
The grant’s measurable goals reflect the precision of an experienced substance use grant writer:
80% of participants will obtain identification within three months
60% will secure felony-friendly employment and stable housing within six months
Fewer than 20% will return to incarceration within one year
50% of parenting participants will make progress toward family reunification
By securing this grant, WWFR can now expand its reach and deliver comprehensive, peer-driven services that empower women to rebuild their lives, break the cycle of addiction and incarceration, and strengthen families and communities throughout Hennepin County.
This award also highlights why partnering with a specialized substance use grant writer is so critical for RCOs like WWFR. Our team at Recovery Movement Consulting understands the unique needs, compliance requirements, and data-driven approaches that funders expect from SUD-focused programs. As a peer-led firm, we bring both the technical expertise and heart-driven commitment to helping RCOs like WWFR access the resources they need to fulfill their missions.
If your Recovery Community Organization is seeking a highly skilled substance use grant writer, Recovery Movement Consulting is ready to help you secure funding, expand your services, and make a greater impact in your community.
