At Recovery Movement Consulting (RMC), we believe every grant—no matter the size—can create meaningful change. As a behavioral health grant writer deeply committed to recovery-focused work, we’re proud to share that Recovery Community Network (RCN) has been awarded a $7,500 grant from the Minnesota Veterans 4 Veterans Trust Fund to support its Veteran Recovery Support Program.

This funding will empower RCN, a veteran-led and women-led Recovery Community Organization (RCO) based in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to provide vital recovery support to 80–85 veterans and their families each year. These services are critical in addressing the unique challenges veterans face, including PTSD, homelessness, and barriers to reintegration.

Veteran Recovery Programs Built by Veterans, for Veterans

Guided by Executive Director Katie Blue, Lt. Col. (Ret.), U.S. Army, RCN offers recovery services designed and delivered by veterans. With a team of Certified Peer Recovery Specialists (CPRS) who are also veterans, RCN ensures that lived experience shapes every interaction and intervention.

As a behavioral health grant writer specializing in rural and veteran-focused initiatives, RMC was honored to help secure this essential funding to enhance RCN’s reach.

Program Highlights:

  • Peer Recovery Support:One-on-one peer coaching, weekly recovery meetings, and Telephone Recovery Support (TRS) tailored for veterans, offering connection, accountability, and hope.

  • Veteran-Focused Case Management:Transportation to appointments, emergency assistance, and linkages to housing, legal aid, and employment services. Veterans in the Veterans Treatment Court will also receive support throughout their legal journey.

  • Harm Reduction Services:Life-saving tools like naloxone kits, fentanyl test strips, and overdose prevention education will be distributed to at-risk veterans across Central Minnesota.

  • Advocacy and Capacity Building: RCN will continue advocating for veterans in recovery by raising awareness, reducing stigma, and working toward better policy solutions that address behavioral health access.

Behavioral Health Grant Writer Perspective: Why This Matters

At RMC, we understand the stakes. As a peer-run, recovery-focused consulting firm, we’ve worked with dozens of behavioral health organizations that serve veterans, people experiencing homelessness, and justice-involved individuals. A behavioral health grant writer does more than submit paperwork—we help shape strategy, build sustainability, and ensure your program’s story resonates with funders.

Shannon Egan, CEO of Recovery Movement Consulting, shared:

“RCN’s Veteran Recovery Support Program is a lifeline for those who’ve served and now need support in recovery. This funding may be modest, but its impact will be mighty—helping veterans find transportation, housing, support groups, and a real sense of belonging.”

Investing in Long-Term Recovery for Veterans

The $7,500 grant from the Minnesota Veterans 4 Veterans Trust Fund is more than a check—it’s an investment in people who have given so much. Thanks to the leadership at RCN and the support of a skilled behavioral health grant writer, this program will expand access to care and reduce isolation for Minnesota veterans.
