Recovery Movement Consulting Secures $2.1 Million Capital Grant for United Way of Utah County

Recovery Movement Consulting (RMC) is proud to announce its largest grant win to date: helping United Way of Utah County secure $2.1 million in capital funding through the Intermountain Community Care Foundation Education Innovation Grant program.

The funding will support the expansion and long-term development of the United Way Center in American Fork, with a focus on enhancing educational opportunities, family learning environments, and support services for youth and caregivers throughout Utah County.

The capital investment will help create expanded classroom space, digital learning environments, family-centered programming areas, and improved infrastructure to better serve low-income, multilingual, immigrant, and working-class families.

Largest Grant Win in Recovery Movement Consulting History

The $2.1 million award represents the largest grant secured by Recovery Movement Consulting to date and marks a major milestone in the organization’s growing expertise in capital grant writing, education-focused infrastructure funding, and long-term nonprofit sustainability planning.

The project centered on the urgent need to expand educational programming and supportive learning spaces as the American Fork center quickly outgrew its temporary facility due to rising community demand. Current classrooms are already operating at or near capacity, limiting enrollment opportunities for children, teens, and caregivers seeking access to educational and enrichment programming.

The expanded facility is projected to increase annual service capacity from approximately 766 individuals to more than 1,200 individuals annually through enhanced educational programming, family supports, digital inclusion services, leadership development, and multilingual learning opportunities.

Enhancing Education for Youth & Caregivers

The Intermountain Community Care Foundation Education Innovation Grant focuses on improving educational outcomes and increasing access to supportive learning environments for youth and families.

Funding will support expanded programming opportunities including:

  • Youth academic support and enrichment

  • STEM and digital inclusion programming

  • ESL and family learning classes

  • Parent leadership and caregiver engagement initiatives

  • Early childhood education activities

  • Technology infrastructure and digital learning access

  • Safe, stable community-centered learning spaces

The permanent facility expansion will allow United Way of Utah County to significantly strengthen its ability to support children and caregivers with consistent, high-quality educational services for years to come.

A Meaningful Project Close to Home

For Shannon Egan, the project carried deep personal meaning.

“This project means a lot to me personally because it allowed me to support an organization making a powerful difference right here in my home state of Utah. I’ve had the opportunity to visit the centers, meet the families, and witness the passion and dedication of the staff firsthand. The work happening inside these community centers is incredibly powerful, and I’m deeply honored that Recovery Movement Consulting could help support the expansion of educational opportunities for youth and caregivers throughout Utah County.”

Building Long-Term Community Impact

The American Fork capital project represents more than a building expansion — it is a long-term investment in educational equity, family stability, and community resilience.

Plans for the expanded facility include:

  • Multiple dedicated classrooms

  • Expanded event and learning spaces

  • Digital learning labs and technology access

  • ADA-compliant upgrades

  • Improved infrastructure and safety enhancements

  • Expanded capacity for youth and caregiver programming

United Way of Utah County will continue operating programs throughout the renovation and transition process to ensure uninterrupted support for the families currently served.
